Analysis of Vietnamization: Hamlet Evaluation System Revisions

Abstract

This report compares the structure implicit in the design of Hamlet Evaluation System (HES) submodels to the structure defined by observed variance in the data over the 7/69 - 12/71 time frame. A recommended revision to the HES is presented which reduces it to only 34 questions, 10 level one submodels, 3 level two models, 1 level three model, and 1 level four macro-model. The scores for the various models are presented for the 7/69 - 10/72 time frame and illustrated with a number of summary map plots.
