Polarimeter Data Acquisition System.

Abstract

The objective of this program was the design and fabrication of a digital recording system for use with a radar polarimeter receiver. The system will measure and/or digitize and record on magnetic tape the following parameters from pulse trains consisting of 4 consecutive pulses: Radio Frequency, Pulse Width, Pulse Repetition Interval, Inverse Axial Ratio, Tilt Angle, Time of Intercept. The complete system consists of a HP104B, X-Y oscilloscope with 2 HP 1402A plug-in units, a digitizer and control unit, and an Ampex TMZ digital tape recorder. The function of the oscilloscope is to aid the operator in acquiring a signal. Both the oscilloscope and digitizer unit receives two separate pulse amplitude modulated 10 MHz IF signals from the polarimeter receiver.
