Laminate Tubular Specimens Subjected to Biaxial Stress States (Glass/Epoxy).

Abstract

Mechanical properties of FRP/epoxy laminates subjected to biaxial stress states are presented. Tubular specimens with thickness to diameter ratio = 0.015 and length to diameter approximately 1 were subjected to stress ratios (axial stress/circumferential stress) of 0:1, 1:2, and 1:1. Failure occurred in the test section for all the specimens. Stresses at failure were in reasonable agreement with those predicted theoretically using a piecewise linear approach combined with the behavior of unidirectional laminates under simple load conditions.
