Mobility Aid Study.

Abstract

A feasibility study of a linkage mechanism with a spade type end effector and force feedback control functioning as an on-board mobility aid was performed. Parameters considered were vehicle weight, mobility aid force, soil friction and slope. Specific examples of water egress by the M-113 personnel carrier were studied. The results indicate that a significant improvement in vehicle mobility may be realized by the use of such a device. (Author)
