LADSETS Program Plan--CY 1973,

Abstract

The Advanced Ballistic Missile Defense Agency (ABMDA) has embarked on a program to address the technical feasibility of a Light Area Defense (LAD) system. Data processing is among the technologies being pursued and includes development and evaluation of algorithms and control logic, and construction and testing of increasingly complex software packages. The end result is to be a validated set of detailed software specifications for the LAD data processing subsystems. The primary tool to be used for test and validation during this program is the LAD System, Environment, and Threat Simulation (LADSETS), which is to be a high fidelity simulation of all aspects of the LAD system, exclusive of the data processing subsystem. LADSETS will operate interactively with the data processing subsystem, supplying data properly responsive to data processor command, to the threat, the environment, and LAD system component performance characteristics.
