Sheet Explosives Studies.

Abstract

The purpose of this program was to develop a low velocity (2,600 m/s) composite explosive for use in the High Explosive Simulation Technique (HEST) cavity. The general approach taken was to incorporate a self-explosive (PETN) with other additives in a polymeric binder capable of being cured at various densities. The explosive developed, designated TSE-1002, has an average detonation rate of 2,550 m/s at a density of 0.92 g/cc and thickness of 1.7 inches. (Author)
