Theory of Ionospheric Modification
Abstract
Theoretical results are presented for nonlinear plasma wave effects of ionospheric modification by high power radio waves. UHF and L-band scattering models have been constructed and nonlinear deviative absorption computed. The effects of parametric instabilities on the electron distribution function and observed airglow are computed. Linear low frequency electromagnetic plasma instabilities associated with the geomagnetic field are derived.
