Application of Combat Planning Technology to RPV Command and Control

Abstract

A recent investigation of the applicability of Mission Planner type algorithms toward the planning of RPV Strike missions was conducted. A second task was conducted to identify and describe those functions which should be implemented to satisfy the RPV requirements for real time Command and Control with their associated hardware and software implications. The Mission Planner (Project 691X05) has the responsibility to optimize the ingress and egress of a strike force while simultaneously minimizing the expenditure of resources. Implementation of the Mission Planner System algorithm has been accomplished via a computer aided interactive graphics system which allows the computer to appear transparent to the Planner allowing him easy access to the data base. The system is both simple from an operator's viewpoint while being accurate for survivability and detailed to construct engagements.
