Synthesis of Perfluoroaliphatic Ether Monomers. Part III.

Abstract

Difunctional perfluoroetheralkyl monomers derived from hexafluoropropylene oxide and tetrafluoroethylene oxide were prepared. These include diiodides and bis-iminoethers. The photochemical and thermal reaction of tetrafluoroethylenewith perfluoroalkyl iodides was investigated and the corresponding diiodides were obtained. The photolysis of perfluoroetheralkyl esters and acyl fluorides derived from hexafluoropropylene oxide was studied. The results are interpreted in terms of two major processes leading to a secondary and a primary radical, respectively. (Author)
