Variable Camber Wing.

Abstract

This report outlines progress in the following areas: (1) The calculated airplane performance comparisons indicate that the advanced technology variable camber wing offers substantial performance improvements at low speed, loiter, cruise, and combat conditions; (2) A flight control system has defined that provides the required level of safety and flying qualities; (3) Flap loads, freeplay and stiffness requirements, Structural element design, Skin sizes and actuator sizes have been developed; and (4) Leading and trailing edge flap design layouts have been prepared.
