Reliability Testing of Radar Set AN/PPS-18(XN-1).

Abstract

The object of the reliability tests was to simulate certain environmental conditions, record the level of performance, and accumulate the necessary operational time of 68,000 hours on the radar sets. The data will be used by Computer Sciences Corp. to assess the adherence of the radar sets to an established criterion of a minimum MTBF (mean time between failure) of 10,000 hours, and to compare the reliability life cycle costs of the AN/PPS-18 with the older AN/PPS-6 radar set already in service use.
