Analysis of a 105mm Closed Breech Gun Design with Recoil Cancellation and a 105mm Davis Type Gun Design

Abstract

This report is a design study of large caliber weapons for helicopter application. The tables and graphs presented in this report provide a convenient tool for conducting trade-off evaluations. Two weapon systems considered were a 105MM closed breech weapon with recoil cancellation and a 105MM Davis type gun. The results indicate that a greater combat load can be carried by a helicopter mounted 105MM closed breech gun design with recoil cancellation.
