Basic Circuit Modules.

Abstract

The Basic Circuit Modules program involves the design of a modular EMI Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) measurement system, covering the frequency range of 30 Hz to 40 GHz. The resulting system will provide measurement instrumentation capable of satisfying existing as well as some anticipated future EMI measurement applications. The program has been divided into two phases, Phase I which was a design study and Phase II which is the fabrication of a breadboard system to prove the feasibility of the design developed during Phase I. This report summarizes the results of the second quarter of the Phase II program. The main topic of discussion is the description of the design and development of the hardware being built during Phase II to demonstrate the feasibility of the Phase I design. The design of the tuners, LO source, control system and amplitude distribution (AD) measurement system are described in detail. Detailed circuit descriptions for the tuners and LO source and logic descriptions of the control system and AD measurement sections are discussed. Packaging of the system in a nuclear instrumentation module (NIM) housing is also described. (Author)
