Evaluation of Image Amplifier Components of Night, AERIAL Photographic Reconnaissance Systems.

Abstract

Methods are discussed for evaluating image amplifier (intensifier) components of night, aerial photographic reconnaissance systems. The facility, utilizing these methods within the Avionics Laboratory, WPAFB, Ohio is described. Image amplifiers are treated in combination with photographic materials to permit accurate prediction of capabilities of night photographic systems. Special considerations are presented for radiometrically evaluating image amplifiers operating in the near IR (700 to 980nm - visually covert portion of the EM spectrum). Accessories including high and low voltage power supplies, gating supplies and focus solenoids are covered. (Author)
