Abatement of High Nitrate Concentrations at Munition Plants: A State of the Art Review.

Abstract

In the production of explosives and propellants at the Army's munition plants, large quantities of nitrates are generated as spent acid and eventually find their way into the plant's surrounding water bodies. This report reviews the available abatement processes and investigations for high nitrate concentrations and discusses the present Picatinny Arsenal nitrate abatement program. (Author)
