AN/GRC-177, AN/VRC-79, AN/PRC-100 VHF Transceivers Development Program.

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of the design and development of Radio Sets AN/GRC-177, AN/VRC-79, and AN/PRC-100 for the United States Air Force. These radio sets are completely solid state, utilizing advanced monolithic integrated circuit devices and modern packaging concepts that minimize the use of hardware and improve overall logistic simplicity. The synthesizer used in all of these radios is of unique concept and design, which have resulted in a major breakthrough in power saving. Because of this, these radio sets (including batteries) are substantially smaller and lighter than similar comparable equipments in use today. Additional results of this development program are major achievements in the areas of reliability, maintainability, signal processing and electro-magnetic interference (EMI). These radios meet the stringent requirements of MIL-STD-461/2/3. The acceptance and qualification test results were also satisfactory. (Author)
