Direct Electronic Fourier Transforms of Optical Images (DEFT).

Abstract

This report describes research on Direct Electronic Fourier Transforms of Optical Images (DEFT) performed at Syracuse University. A considerable body of theoretical information was generated on several problems. These include two-dimensional surface acoustics (the 'beam steering' problem), the image reconstruction problem and motion detection. The principal experimental activity was the successful design, construction, and evaluation of a one-dimensional CdS surface wave camera. Some experimental effort was also expended on acoustic beam steering and on a one-dimensional reconstruction device. (Author)
