Progress Report.

Abstract

Work was continued on the development of a randomized model for Source Sound Pressure Level (SSPL) estimation, and on the verification of source locations for the signal samples that will be used to test the SSPL model. The purpose of the program is to develop operational computer techniques for SSPL estimation which allow for uncertainties in source-receiver geometry and sound propagation variables. The program will calculate realistic estimates of the 95% confidence limits for 'true' SSPL, given as inputs a set of RSPL samples, nominal values for the source and receiver positions and velocity profile, and values for their expected errors. The program will be operational for 1/3 octave band analysis by the end of June, 1971. The work in track verification was undertaken to provide the precise knowledge of source- receiver geometry needed for a meaningful evaluation of the SSPL model.
