Optical Sensor Signal Simulation (O.S.S.S.).

Abstract

Mathematical models applicable to a large class of optical sensors are developed and the digital computer program to simulate the models is described. The simulation includes the capability to analyze extended image targets, aberrant optical systems, realistic detector array geometries and realistic preamplifying electronics. The output of the simulation is the 'electrical' signal generated by the rectilinear motion of a target image across a detector array. Several example problems were solved to illustrate the utility of the simulation for evaluating error sources present in fuzing and tracking sensors. (Author)
