Infrared Filters for AN/VSS-3 Searchlight.

Abstract

This report covers the effort to develop, produce and test covert infrared filters for searchlight AN/VSS-3. The filter consists of two pyrex cylindrical substrates which are coated using absorbtion and interference techniques. The filters are then mounted on a sleeve assembly with a silicon adhesive compound. The principal goal of this effort was to produce a filter with angular visual security of .75 degrees with good infrared transmittance that would pass stringent environmental tests. It is concluded that the requirements of this contract have been met. (Author)
