LCP III Computer Integration and Test Program.

Abstract

A low-cost gimbaled inertial platform (LCP III) and a low-cost airborne computer (BR-1018) have previously been developed under separate contracts by the Air Force Avionics Laboratory. Interface electronics are required to allow the platform and computer to be integrated to work as a unit. The objective of this program was to design and fabricate the necessary interface electronics and to mechanize the platform/computer into a complete inertial midcourse guidance system suitable for tactical air-to-surface weapon applications. The final report defines the platform and computer interfaces and discusses input/output compatibility requirements, provides a detailed description of the hardware interface units, and summarizes the midcourse guidance system mechanization including equations and software program considerations. Results of the laboratory integration and test phase of the program, conducted to demonstrate the system's alignment and navigation capability are included. Finally, a description of a system mathematical model, to be used for conducting error analyses, is also included. (Author)
