Gas Containment in Combustion Driven Chemical Laser Systems. Volume II. Development of Chemical Absorbents.

Abstract

Reaction kinetics of solid absorbents with effluent gases typical of an HF chemical laser were measured. Measurements included the effects of gas pressure, absorbent temperature, extent of reaction, and mode of absorbent preparation and pretreatment. Absorbents included titanium, zirconium, cerium, calcium, magnesium, lithium, sodium, potassium, and numerous alloys thereof. Calcium kinetics were found most favorable for laser system utilization.
