Summary Technical Report Variable Camber Wing - Phase I.

Abstract

A variable camber wing system has been designed for high performance fighter and attack airplanes. This system combines aerodynamic improvements resulting from advanced technology wing shapes and smoothly contoured leading and trailing edge flaps with an automatic flight control system that deploys the flaps in response to airplane flight requirements. This system achieves outstanding transonic combat and low speed performance without degrading supersonic capability. (Author)
