Executive Summary of Airborne SHF SATCOM Terminal Flight Test.

Abstract

This final report summarizes the results of testing the AN/ASC-18 SHF Satellite Communication System over the DSCS II SHF Satellite. The system consists of an RCA computer augmented Antenna Pointing Sub-System, an RCA 12 Kw SHF antenna, a Collins 11 Kw SHF RF terminal and Sylvania wideband Anti-Jam Digital Data Modem. The ASC-18 System was installed on a C135 test aircraft and operated against a compatible Ground terminal located at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. This report summarizes the results of 300 hours of flight testing and 700 hours of ground testing. A discussion is presented of changes recommended to the SHF System tested in order to transition it into operational use on the Advanced Airborne Command Post. (Author)
