Integrated Target Control System AN/USW-3(XN-1) (V).

Abstract

This is the final engineering report relating to the development of an Integrated Target Control System (ITCS) for Tri-Service application. The functions of command, tracking, and telemetry have been integrated into a system that provides line-of-sight control of up to six randomly positioned targets, or over-the-horizon control of up to four randomly positioned targets. To accommodate various mission profiles, five development model control stations have been fabricated and service tested, at Point Mugu, California. In addition to the control stations, a command/telemetry transponder has been developed, fabricated and tested in conjunction with the control stations. The transponder will operate with any ITCS control station and is adaptable to a variety of service and target drones. Concurrent with the latter phases of the contract, one of the control stations was modified to transfer scoring information from the target to the control station without interfering with the basic command, tracking, and telemetry functions of the system. Acceptance testing of the modifications have verified operation for the BIDOPS/DIGIDOPS, VMD1 and PMD1 scoring systems. (Author)
