New Elastomeric Polymers and Specialty Chemicals.
Abstract
Carboxy nitroso rubbers containing 2 and 4 mole percent nitrosoperfluorobutyric acid were prepared. Alpha, beta-Dichlorodifluorosuccinyl fluoride was prepared as a precursor in a nitrile-acid fluoride synthesis. A high molecular weight perfluorinated tertiary dinitrile prepared earlier was purified. DEDAF dinitrile (HFGF-FIBO) was prepared from the purified DEDAF diamide. The elemental fluorination of several partially fluorinated ethers was begun. Various routes to perfluorinated tertiary amines were investigated. Sulfur tetrafluoride fluorination of esters was continued, and two alpha, omega-diaminophenoxy perfluoroalkylene oxides were prepared using this procedure. Nitrophenoxide initiated oligomerization of HFPO was investigated. 1-Hydroperfluoro-1-nonyne, perfluoro(methyl vinyl ether), perfluoroisobutylene oxide, and perfluoroisobutyric anhydride were prepared. The synthesis of difluoromaleic anhydride was begun. (Author)
