Stores Interface Data Handling Analysis - Phase I.

Abstract

Aircraft stores compatibility is greatly affected by the electrical interface requirements of stores. A typical aircraft weapon station is often required to accommodate several types of electrically interfaced stores. Although these stores may be significantly different with respect to their tactical usage, a high degree of similarity can exist in their electrical interface requirements. To date, a time-consuming manual circuit analysis must be performed to develop an aircraft/stores interface that is suitable to control several types of stores. The electrical interface requirements of one store must be compared against all other stores to detect any electrical functions that may be common. This manual procedure can easily result in overlooking certain electrically identical or similar circuits, especially in cases where hundreds of circuits must be analyzed. This report describes a computerized store data processing system consisting of a store data file and several computer programs. This system provides a computer-aided means to obtain optimized aircraft/stores electrical interface requirements and other data for single and multiple aircraft weapon station configurations. This new technique eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming manual circuit interface analysis and provides an excellent tool to aid in the design and development of new aircraft weapon systems.
