Suitability of an Image IR Upconverter for the Detection of 300-K Objects Outside the Earth's Atmosphere.

Abstract

This study considers the application of an infrared upconverter for the detection of 300-K objects in low earth orbit. It is found that an image upconverter detection system in synchronous orbit using a cooled (120-K) optical system of modest size and quality might be practical. (Author)
