Methods for Calculating Magnus Forces on Slender Bodies of Revolution

Abstract

Theories for predicting the Magnus force for slender, pointed bodies of revolution at small angle of attack and small spin rates are reviewed. A semi-empirical method for calculating C(Y,P) is discussed and shown to be applicable to a variety of bodies and experimental situations.
