SST Technology Follow-on-Program-Phase II. A Flutter Analysis Program to Achieve an Optimized Structure for a Supersonic Transport Airplane.

Abstract

The report describes a computing system that improves the process of modifying an airplane design to satisfy flutter requirements through local mass and/or stiffness change, while adding the minimum additional weight penalty. It introduces analytical simplifications that reduce computing costs and an automated flutter solution program and search algorithm that diminish flow time. It documents the application of the system fo the Boeing SST-2707-300 airplane. (Author)
