Stability of Satellites and Unusual Aerodynamic Shaped-Vehicles Carrying Liquid Payloads.

Abstract

Simple mathematical models show that spinning bodies such as satellites can suffer the classical Stewartson instability often encountered by liquid-filled artillery shell. Eigenfrequencies are computed for a cylinderical cavity. (Author)
