Potential of Barges in Amphibious Logistics

Abstract

This report summarizes a study of the feasibility and military utility of employing barges offshore to supplement land-based logistics in amphibious operations. Resource requirements including types and numbers of barges and supporting equipment are identified. Problem areas and hardware development objectives are identified, and recommendations for specific action are made.
