Pre-Approval Tests of Ten-Man Inflatable Liferaft,

Abstract

Inflatable liferafts for use on vessels subject to Coast Guard inspection are approved only by the Commandant, U. S. Coast Guard, Washington, D. C. Before action is taken on any design of inflatable liferaft, detailed plans covering fully the arrangement and construction of the inflatable liferaft, material specifications, and description of construction methods are submitted to the Commandant, U. S. Coast Guard. If these are satisfactory, a local marine inspector witnesses construction and certain tests of the raft at the manufacturers plant. The raft is then forwarded to the Coast Guard Field Testing and Development Unit, for testing. This report covers pre-approved tests on a 10-man inflatable liferaft, manufactured by Survival Equipment Company, Sausalito, California.
