Enhancing Security and Stability in Afghanistan

Abstract

December 2015 marks nearly one year into United States Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A) Operation Freedoms Sentinel (OFS) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)-led Resolute Support (RS) mission focused on developing Afghan institutional capacity to enhance security and stability across Afghanistan. During the June 1 through November 30, 2015, reporting period, the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) endured a tough fight against a determined insurgency. Despite challenges this fighting season, the ANDSF have proven their willingness to fight and to learn from mistakes during their first year with full responsibility for securing the Afghan people.
