Building a Cloud Computing and Big Data Infrastructure for Cybersecurity Research and Education

Abstract

The main objective of this instrumentation grant is to acquire the essential equipment for developing a new, mid-range, cloud computing and big data infrastructure to support the cybersecurity research, education, and outreach programs at Norfolk State University. During the project's period of performance (2/1/2014 to 1/31/2015), all proposed equipment was successfully acquired, installed, configured, and operational. The acquired equipment has been used by faculty and students in research. Its use will grow and expand rapidly to support the research, education, outreach, and workforce development activities not only for NSU, but also for two new five-year, multi-institution cybersecurity related initiatives funded recently by DoD and DoE, respectively.
