A Plan for In-Air Testing of Metal Detectors

Abstract

Canada participates in the International Pilot Project for Technology Co-operation (IPPTC) in landmine detection under the auspices of the Canadran Centre for Mine Action Technologies (CCMAT). The goat of this multi-national project is to conduct various laboratory and field tests on a number of commercial metal detectors in their use as landmine detectors. Results of these tests will provide relevant information to potential sponsors and end users of such technology to help them make informed equipment choices in humanitarian demining. This report describes the concepts behind and the detail implementation of the laboratory tests, designed and led by Canada, and to be conducted at the Defence Research Establishment Suffield.
