Guidance for Reducing Drinking Water Lead Levels in New Buildings

Abstract

Safe and acceptable drinking water is critical to ensuring public health and mission success. Several recent and documented incidents of elevated levels of lead in the drinking water of new building plumbing systems have highlighted the potential health risks posed by exposure to elevated lead levels and the need to ensure safe drinking water supplies in new buildings (references 13). This information paper is intended to minimize the health risks associated with elevated lead levels in drinking water in new buildings prior to occupancy.
