The Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS) is part of the Department of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine of the Uniformed Services University (USU). The mission of CSTS is to advance scientific and academic knowledge, interventions, educational resources and outreach to mitigate the impact of trauma from exposure to war, disasters, terrorism, community violence and public health threats. In accomplishing our mission, we serve an essential role for the Department of Defense and provide valuable service to our nation. We have established a strong 28-year track record of successfully fulfilling our mission and achieving our goals since the Center began in 1987.
