Transforming Growth Factor Beta and Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor Synergistically Regulate Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide Through the Cytokine Response Element

Abstract

Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor (CNTF) and Transforming Growth Factor-Beta (TGF-Beta) are members of two distinct cytokine families that utilize different receptors and signal transduction pathways. Both CNTF and TGF-Beta can induce transcription of the gene encoding the neuropeptide Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) in neuroblastoma cells.
