Abstract

Israels security has significant relevance for U.S. interests in the Middle East, and Congress plays an active role in shaping and overseeing U.S. relations with Israel. This report focuses on the following: Recent dynamics in U.S.-Israel relations. U.S.-Israel next steps following the July 2015 Iranian nuclear deal. Regional threats Israel perceives from Hezbollah (the Lebanese, Iran-backed Shiite group and U.S.-designated terrorist organization), Syria, and elsewhere.
