Final Technical Report: Hawaii Energy and Environmental Technologies Initiative 2009 (HEET)

Abstract

This report covers efforts by the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, under the ONR-funded HEET09, focusing on development of advanced fuel cells and fuel cell systems, an biofuel processing and purification, the extraction and stability of seabed methane hydrates, and alternative energy systems for the Pacific Region. Testing and evaluation of alternative energy systems includes heat exchangers for Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion, grid-scale battery energy storage, photovoltaic systems, a fast-fill hydrogen fueling station, and energy efficiency test platforms.
