Patterns of Reserve Officer Attrition Since September 11, 2001

Abstract

CNA has been providing the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs (Manpower and Personnel) with empirical information on patterns of losses in the Reserves since September 11, 2001. To date, we have concentrated on examining patterns of losses among the enlisted members of the Selected Reserves (SelRes). In this annotated briefing, we examine the patterns of losses among commissioned officers and contrast them with our findings for the enlisted SelRes to date.1
