Locating Unimodular Roots
Abstract
Summary: We uinvestigate the family of polynomials p(z) + z(k) - 1 and characterize the number and location of unimodular roots in terms of conditions on n and k. The main result shows that unimodular roots occur if and only if n/g + k/g is divisible by 6, where g = gcd(n, k). In this case, there are exactly g pairs of conjugate unimodular roots.
