Abstract

Zachary Lemnios is the militarys top science and technology executive, responsible for about $12 billion worth of Department of Defense scienceand technology programs. For years, Lemnios helped spearhead the militarys advanced research into turbo-powered microelectronics, labs-on-chips, and learning machines. Now, as the current director for Defense Research and Engineering (DDR and E), he is determined to get the best technology into the hands of the warfighter today while keeping an eye on what technologies will matter in 10 years. Defense AT and L spoke with Mr. Lemnios in late December about his vision and trajectory for DDR and E.
