The Story is Telling: Simplicity is Complicated

Abstract

Our bosses seem to want us to make things simplerPut this in simpler terms; Make the Microsoft PowerPoint slide more readable; Put the bottom line upfront; and Write a one-page executive summary. All things weve heard before. Interestingly, simplicity is still vaunted as one of the enduring principles of war; yet famous 18th century theorist Carl Von Clausewitz warned us that in war, the simplest thingslike walkingsometimes cannot be performed welllike while walking in water. Why is making things simpler so difficult?
