Counterintelligence Screening Needed lo Reduce Security Threat That Unscreened Local National Linguists Pose to U.S. Forces (REDACTED)

Abstract

This is the third in a series of audits conducted in response to a January 20 I 0 shooting incident in Afghanistan, involving a contractor linguist and U.S. forces. Om objective was to determine whether U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) officials effectively implemented the security requirements for the linguist contract W911W4-07-D-0010, valued at $1.46 billion. This report addresses the counterintelligence (CI) screening of local nationals (LNs) hired as linguists in Afghanistan.
