Microgrid Modeling and Simulation Study

Abstract

This report describes a survey of modeling and simulation (M and S) efforts that are related to tactical microgrids. Based on this survey, the most relevant M and S projects have been identified and compiled into a coherent database to provide a roadmap for the US Army and Department of Defense (DOD). This roadmap will be used to guide DOD M and S strategy and planning, as well as develop a comprehensive microgrid M and S capability and prioritize future efforts. Analysis of current microgrid M and S research is presented, and specifics of the different projects related to tactical microgrids are compared. The results were then used to identify gaps in existing tactical microgrid M and S research. This work was funded by the US Army Research Laboratory and performed by Intelligent Power and Energy Research Corporation.
