Development and Translation of Hybrid Optoacoustic/Ultrasonic Tomography for Early Breast Cancer Detection

Abstract

In this proposal, we seek to validate K13 as an accurate and feasible marker of metastatic prostate cancer that will enable superior staging and prognostic capability for patients with high-grade prostate cancer. Additionally, we will determine if K13 protein plays an important functional role in the development of metastases using relevant biological models. Finally we will investigate the feasibility and effects of targeting stem-like variants of PCa, designated by K13 expression with the overall goal of generating data to justify additional studies of K13 targeting in order to block metastatic progression and/or treat existing bone metastases.
