Cost Effective, Ultra Sensitive Groundwater Monitoring for Site Remediation and Management: Standard Operating Procedures with QA/QC

Abstract

This document presents the standard operating procedures for the In Situ Sampling (IS2)Technology. As with any groundwater sampling method, the decision to apply the IS2 technology is based on the site characteristics and the type of data that is desired. Successful integration of the IS2 into a groundwater contamination monitoring plan requires the a priori development of a sampling plan to be executed in the field. The primary product of pre-deployment work is a sampling matrix that describes the location, quantity of samples, and methods to be applied (Figure 1). A flow chart is provided in Figure 2that provides an overview of the pre-deployment planning process. Answers to the questions asked through this process are used to populate the sampling matrix. Pre-deployment work ends with the mechanical preparation of the IS2 sampler.
