Respiratory Highlights, 2015 - 2016 Influenza Season (4 October 2015 - 1 October 2016)

Abstract

During the 2015-2016 influenza season (4 October 2015 - 1 October 2016), results were finalized for 4,591 specimens from 80locations. There were 1,132 specimens positive for influenza (637 A(H1N1)pdm09, 114 A(H3N2), 376 B, 2 dual influenza coinfections, and 3 influenza coinfections with other respiratory pathogens). See Table 2 on pages 4 and 5 for these results and other respiratory pathogens identified. Differences between specimens collected and tested are due to specimens sent for sequencing only and/or specimens not tested for various reasons. During the 2015-2016 influenza season, influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 was the predominant strain. This season had a late start, with influenza activity peaking at Week 10. The influenza percent positive for the season was 25 . This is the cumulative report for specimens tested at USAFSAM during the 2015-2016 influenza season.
